Abbey/Santander
Abbey electron cards will soon be replaced with a santander visa debit card.

The Co-op Cashminder Account & Bank of Scotland no longer issue visa electron cards to new customers.

HSBC, Nat West & Royal Bank of Scotland are currently changing maestro cards to visa debit.

Using your new card
You'll be able to use your new visa debit card at the shops listed here. When you get to the checkout page just choose Visa or Visa/Delta as your card.

Visa Debit (Delta)
Some shops still have Delta as a payment option. Delta is the old name for Visa Debit, just select Delta as your payment option.

Visa Electron

The card is issued when you open a basic UK bank account. These accounts are usually given to students, teenagers, and people on a low income or someone with no/poor credit history.

The first thing you'll notice when you try to use your electron card to buy stuff online is that a lot of shops don't accept it. You won’t be able to use your Visa Electron online at most of the big name stores including Debenhams, John Lewis, M&S and Tesco. However, all is not lost, a growing number of shops are now starting to accept the electron card online.

Verified by Visa

A growing number of shops are now using Verified by Visa as added security. This requires you to enter a password and personal assurance message at the checkout. You have to sign up for the service with the bank that issues your card, you only need to do this once.
